Booking Ibis Hotel

I found the hotel by searching for hotels in Lincoln on Lastminute.com. The quoted price was the same on the various travel websites. Because I was travelled with my 3 young children, I made a reservation by phoning the hotel directly.

Rooms at Ibis, Lincoln

My family and I stayed in a double room. There was a standard double bed, and the sofa-bed had been converted into a bed for the children.

The room was comparable to those at Travelodge, Travel Inn etc. It was somewhat smaller than average though, but the bathroom compensated as it was larger than average.

There was a TV, kettle for tea / coffee and desk, hairdryer, telephone and full-length mirror. Access to the room was by an electronic key card.

Rooms on the road-facing side have an extra double-glazed window attached to reduce the noise from the nearby A46.

I was surprised to find that the curtains did not block out the light from the window. This photo was taken at 6am and shows sunlight pouring into the room from the closed curtains.

Bathroom at Ibis, Lincoln

I was very pleased by the bathroom. It was spacious and clean. The shower and tap fittings were Grohe which is always a sign of quality.

The shower had Grohe fittings and was remarkably powerful. The shower cubicle was roomy.

I was surprised that the shower cubicle did not have a shower curtain. Like the cheap window curtain, this appears to be a cost-saving feature. Unfortunately, there was early water damage evident on the inside of the bathroom door due to water splashing out of the shower.

Breakfast at Ibis, Lincoln

Continental breakfast is not included in the room price, but is readily available at £4.95 for adults and £2.50 for children.

The self-service breakfast is available in the downstairs dining area adjacent to the reception. The breakfast consisted of breads, a limited range of cereals, orange juice and grapefruit juice, some fruits and tea / coffee from a machine.

I thought £4.95 was quite pricey for the limited range of breakfast items available and I was not impressed by the overall quality of the breakfast. However, my children seemed happy enough with the breakfast and I was glad that they were also able to get hot milk at the start of the day.

The Ibis "Satisfaction Contract"

Ibis has a "Satisfaction Contract" where they will try to fix small problems within 15 minutes:

"If, by chance, you have a small problem, for which we may be responsible, we will do everything possible to find a solution within 15 minutes.

The 15 minutes satisfaction contract is more than a promise, it is a 24h/24 guarantee."

Summary

The Ibis Lincoln is a nice, modern hotel just outside Lincoln's town centre. The room was clean and I was very impressed by the bathroom. We had a pleasant stay and would go there again if visiting Lincoln. Breakfast was a disappointment though.
