Petrol and diesel set to climb past £1 / litre

[Forecourt price board - 17 May 2006]
Petrol and diesel prices peaked in mid-2005, briefly nudging past the 100p per litre landmark. In 2005 forecourt retailers struggled to adapt fuel pumps and price boards to accommodate the 3-figure price.
If you look around now, you will see new sign boards such as this one which can go up to a maximum of 999.9p/L! The forecourt retailers are preparing to sell fuel at over 100p/L as the norm rather than the exception.
