Why I made this website
I have been making both commercial and non-profit websites as a hobby since 1995.
I am therefore quite interested in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), the science whereby a site's ranking in the search engines can be optimised. In particular, I am good at optimising on-page factors for SEO.
The idea is that when someone types in a word at Google, your site comes at the very top of the search engine results page (SERP).
Although I had been making websites for about 10 years, I didn't have "personal" site for myself since leaving University in 1999. So when someone typed my name into Google, I didn't have a presence at all.
Eventually on 22 January 2006 that I decided to do something about this situation, and this how Mandar-Marathe.com came about.
I decided to create a personal website, optimised such that when someone types in Mandar, Marathe, Mandar Marathe or "Mandar Marathe" into Google, then my site would come first in the SERPS.

As you can see this site does not rank at all for these search terms.
The plan...
To build up this website and apply SEO techniques so that it comes first in the SERPs for the 4 search terms listed above.
I want Mandar-Marathe.com to go from zero to #1 in as short a time as possible.
I will be using almost all of what I know about SEO in the process, and along the way I'll be evaluating some cutting-edge (experimental) techniques and maybe trying out some new approaches too.
If you analyse how this page is created you might get clues as to how it's done. But like a magician I won't be telling anyone how it's done.
SEO is never an exact science and there are no guarantees that this project will work.
But I have spent 10 years learning and applying SEO, and I intend to use it to propel this site to the top of the SERPS.
